I'm not going to lie, I fluctuate between 1 of 2 types of holiday shoppers-
A: I'm prepared early. I've been slowly stockpiling gifts over several months, so my wallet doesn't take a major hit all at once. I'm finished well before Christmas.
OR
B: I completely forget to shop and am scrambling the week before Christmas to find gifts online that will arrive in time, while lamenting myself.
For your sanity, I hope you aren't a Type B Shopper. I always regret it and swear I'll never do it again. Aaaaaand here we are in November and I have 2 gifts on stand by and that's it... But that's not what I want to share today. I have no tips to being better prepared for holidays earlier, because historically any time my family has any kind of important event it's like a no holds barred Murphy's Law snowball. What I do have for you, though, are a few super handy recommendations that will help your bank account stay a little fuller no matter whether you're prepared 2 months ahead of time or still scrambling on Christmas Eve Eve.
These 3 programs have been extremely helpful for me in finding deals, coupons, discounts, etc. They all have apps you can install on a smart device or websites you can utilize, but I prefer to use the Chrome extensions on my computer. On the apps and websites, you can search by store to find sales and coupons. But if you're like me, you always forget to check and get caught up in the shopping. That's where the browser extension is super handy. You go to your regular shopping sites as you normally would, and the extension gives you a little pop up showing if it's detected coupon codes for this retailer. It's so easy, one button click and the extension automatically runs through all available coupon codes and applies them, even stacking codes when possible! Sometimes, you'll get notified that while there isn't a coupon code, you can earn additional cash back or secret sale prices by going through the extension or activating rewards through the extension. I've saved money on things from pizza deliveries to website domains! I definitely recommend using these - I run all 3 on my browser and they don't conflict with each other. Sometimes you can get cash back through one while getting a coupon code through another and keep stacking so it's worthwhile in my opinion. And you don't have to ban or have a credit line with Capitol One to use their savings extension!
